Never Misses A Beat

We had just finished bathing all the children, and were relaxing in the living room, when I realized it was a good evening to trim the kids' nails. After fetching the clippers and a garbage sack for the clippings, I noticed how long their nails had actually gotten. In a fake posh voice I said, "Why Aiden, who does your nails?" He held his hand out, and after examining his nails, he said nonchalantly, " Nature."

Be Careful What You Ask For...

Life has been a bit hectic lately, with summer finally arriving after a long winter. We've had plenty of  friends and family visit us in recent weeks, and it has been great to see everyone. We recently went to dinner with some family whom we don't get a chance to see very often. My husband's cousin was passing through town with her new husband and her mother. While the ladies sat and visited with us, the new husband decided to entertain our two little boys with some magic tricks. The twins were fascinated as he twirled coins around his knuckles and pulled quarters from their ears. They were even more thrilled when he started having them participate. At one point in his performance, our new magician friend held out his fist and asked Aiden to "blow". I saw the scene unravel in slow motion, as Aiden sucked in a deep breath. Not yet having children of his own, our young magician friend did not realize that at 4 years old, the term "blow" usually refers to boogies and a Kleenex. I waived my arms to try to stop the inevitable from happening, but it was too late. Our new friend was soon sprayed with a shower of snot and boogies. Luckily, his good nature instantly took over and he had a good laugh about the situation!
